Apple's "It's Glow Time" Event: Everything Announced

On September 9, 2024, Apple held its much-anticipated "It's Glow Time" event at Apple Park. Starting at 10:00 AM PDT (10:30 PM IST), the company unveiled its 2024 hardware lineup, headlined by the iPhone 16 series — the first iPhones designed from the ground up for Apple Intelligence, Apple's suite of on-device AI features.

iPhone 16 Series

The iPhone 16 family arrived in four models:

  • iPhone 16
  • iPhone 16 Plus
  • iPhone 16 Pro
  • iPhone 16 Pro Max

The standard iPhone 16 and 16 Plus are powered by the new A18 chip, while the iPhone 16 Pro and Pro Max step up to the A18 Pro. All four models ship with iOS 18 and support Apple Intelligence.

A notable hardware addition across the lineup is the new Camera Control — a dedicated capacitive button on the side of the phone for quickly launching the camera, adjusting zoom, and switching photographic styles.

The Pro models feature a refined Grade 5 titanium finish with larger displays than the previous generation — 6.3 inches on the iPhone 16 Pro and 6.9 inches on the Pro Max — along with thinner bezels, an upgraded 48MP Ultra Wide camera, and support for 4K 120fps Dolby Vision video recording. The standard models moved to a vertically stacked camera layout that enables spatial video capture, and both gained the Action button previously exclusive to the Pro line.

Apple Watch Series 10

The Apple Watch Series 10 debuted as the thinnest Apple Watch yet, with a larger wide-angle OLED display, faster charging, and new health capabilities including sleep apnea detection. A polished jet black aluminum finish joined the lineup, and the stainless steel models were replaced by lighter titanium options.

The Apple Watch Ultra 2 also received a new satin black titanium finish, and the sleep apnea detection feature extended to it as well.

AirPods and Audio

  • AirPods 4: A redesigned open-ear model in two versions — a standard model and, for the first time in this form factor, a version with Active Noise Cancellation. Both feature the H2 chip, a USB-C charging case, and improved audio quality.
  • AirPods Pro 2 (software update): Apple announced new hearing health features coming via software, including a clinical-grade hearing aid capability, a hearing test, and hearing protection.
  • AirPods Max: Refreshed with USB-C charging and new color options.
